Maureen Murdock M.A. is a psychotherapist, writing teacher and the author of six books, including The Heroine's Journey:Woman's Quest for Wholeness, a ground-breaking book which revealed a broader understanding of the female psyche on both a personal and cultural level. Murdock is also the author of The Heroine's Journey Workbook; Fathers' Daughters; Spinning Inward: Using Guided Imagery with Children and is the editor of an anthology of memoirs written by her writing students entitled Monday Morning Memoirs: Women in the Second Half of Life.
Murdock's research on myth and memoir culminated in her most recent book, Unreliable Truth: On Memoir and Memory. She teaches memoir writing in the UCLA Extension Writers' Program as well as privately in Sausalito, California. Murdock was Chair and core faculty member of the MA Counseling Psychology Program at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara and is adjunct faculty in depth psychology at Sonoma State University. She has been a guest lecturer at The C.G. Jung Institute, UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, UC San Diego, University of British Columbia, The Naropa Institute, The Omega Institute, The Oasis Center, University of Creation Spirituality, University of Massachusetts, and others. She has been an educational consultant for a number of school districts and she co-created a program in human development for students in the Los Angeles City Schools to deal with conflict resolution and diversity issues after the uprisings in the early 1990s. This year is the centennial of the birth of Padrinho Manoel Corrente.

You are invited to join me on a journey to Ceu de Mapia to celebrate this beloved being. We will honor him through a series of spiritual works and meetings with his extended family and the community of Mapia where he lived.
We will begin with a Mesa Branca work on September the 27, Padrinho Corrente work on Sept.29, (Day of Saint Michael - Luzio Mortimer and Padrinho Corrente himnarios) and continue with a Concentration on Sept.30th and other works throughout the week. (Healing work, Forest work, Santa Casa work) ending with Padrinho Sebastiaos birthday work on Oct. 6th-7th . We will also have the opportunity to participate in our own group works and activities, swim in the river and wander through the community and surrounding forest.

for the “Renovate Your Heart Journey To Peru” this fall. 
Explore the magic of Peru, on this life-changing experience,
where you will come back into balance in your body, mind and spirit.

This is the spring or dry season in Peru.  The trip will include a four-day hiking exploration to Machu Picchu. We will spend the beginning of the trip becoming acclimated to the elevation by touring the colorful and ancient city of Cuzco and the Sacred Valley . On day four we will begin our journey accompanied by guides, porters and pack mules as we begin our ascent along the lush terrain of the mountain. We will travel by foot to Machu Picchu by way of Salkantay – one of the sacred majestic and holy moutains in the region which has been referred to as the Untamed Feminine.  After arriving at our destination, we will relax and rejuvenate at the Luxurious Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, the only hotel, located adjacent to the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu.

Our small group (limited to ten) will visit various temples, sacred sites, and meet with weavers and other local artisans.  You will have the opportunity to participate in  a traditional Despacho Ceremony with local Medicine People.
